Our deodorant formula is concentrated, so a little goes a long way. Use a pea-sized amount per underarm and rub it in until it melts into the skin. If you see a thick layer sitting on the skin, you’re using too much.

For most people, one application in the morning is enough. However, if you’re in the transition phase, working out, or having a high-sweat day, you can reapply, but it’s usually not necessary.

If you use a pea-sized amount per underarm once daily, most customers get at least 8 weeks from one 1.4 oz tin. If you’re running out sooner, you may be using more than you need.

Will I still sweat?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you may still sweat, and that’s totally normal. Akilah Fresh is NOT an antiperspirant, so it works with your body, not against it. Sweating helps your body regulate temperature and release waste, and that’s a good thing. Our goal is to block the funk without blocking sweat.

Is there a detox/transition phase?

Yes, for some people. If you’re switching from antiperspirant to natural deodorant, your body may need a little time to adjust. During the first 7–30 days, you might notice more sweat or odor as your underarms rebalance.

How do I use the armpit detox?

The armpit detox mask is a quick reset for your pits to help draw out impurities and residue. Mix 1/2 tsp of powder with 1–2 tsp of water to make a paste, then spread a thin layer on clean underarms. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes, then wipe clean.

How often should I detox my pits?

If you’re new to aluminum-free deodorant, we recommend detoxing once a week for the first 6–8 weeks. After that, for maintenance, detox every 2–3 months or as needed. If you notice increased odor, irritation/sensitivity, or underarm buildup, you may want to detox sooner.

Can I apply immediately after shaving?

It's best to wait. Shaving can make your underarms extra sensitive, so applying deodorant right after can increase the chance of irritation.

Tip: shave at night so your skin has time to calm down, then apply your deodorant in the morning.

Always avoid applying to broken skin.

What if I get irritation?

Accepted Answer

If you notice irritation, stop using Akilah Fresh for a few days and let your skin calm down. Baking soda, which is found in our Regular Strength formula, can sometimes trigger irritation, especially if you have sensitive skin. When you restart, use a smaller amount and apply only to clean, dry, unbroken skin. If irritation continues, try switching to the Sensitive Skin formula, which is baking soda-free and gentler. If you still have issues, discontinue use and reach out if you need help choosing the best option for you.

Can I use Akilah Fresh on other areas of my body?

Absolutely! Akilah Fresh is gentle enough for most external areas where you want extra odor protection, like underboob, inner thighs, groin, feet, or anywhere you tend to sweat. Just use a very small amount and always patch test on sensitive skin first. Avoid using on broken or irritated skin.

Will it stain my clothes?

When used as directed (pea-sized amount, rubbed in well), Akilah Fresh shouldn’t stain your clothes. Over-applying or not letting it absorb can sometimes cause transfer. If that happens, it should easily wash out with hot, soapy water.

How should I store my deodorant?

Accepted Answer

Store Akilah Fresh in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Because it’s made with natural butters and oils, heat can soften or melt the balm. If that happens, just pop it in the fridge to firm it up. For best results, use within 6 months of opening.
